Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena

How you can Help

Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena is a non-profit organization. We welcomes donations of many kinds. Your donations of time, money, and resources enable the Fort Dupont Ice Arena to provide programs to the children, youth, and adults living in the community. Many of our programs are free or extremely affordable because of your contributions.  Below is a list of ways for you to contribute.

1) Financial: As a non-profit organization, all of our Kids on Ice programs and some of our facilities and maintenance costs are paid for with donations from individuals and foundations. Donations of all amounts are welcome.
Donations by Check- Please send a check payable to: Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena, 3779 Ely Place, SE, Washington D.C. 20019 or contact Kathy Cox at 202-584-5007 or email

2) Equipment- We are always in need of used skating equipment in good condition. The Kids on Ice classes provide figure skating, ice hockey, and speed skating equipment to participants free of charge. Most of this equipment is donated by other skaters in the area. To donate equipment just drop it off at Fort Dupont Ice Arena at your convenience, or to arrange a pick up of large quantities of equipment, email us.

3) Volunteering- All of our Kids on Ice classes are taught by volunteer instructors. Each of the four programs, Learn to Skate, Advanced Figure Skating, Ice Hockey, and Speed Skating, are managed by a qualified instructor who instructs volunteers how to teach each specific class. We always need volunteers to help with classes. If you already have skating skills and are willing to help a few hours each week, please contact our Skating Director, Emily Mayer, at 202-584-5007 ext. 13.

4) Tax Benefits- Friends of the Fort Dupont Ice Arena is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. All donations are tax deductible. Each donor receives a thank you letter/receipt for tax purposes.
